brilliant mistake

At first, it always seems like a good idea.

Hate Map of Southern California. From the Interactive Hate Group Map of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
Icons:

“L” (Actually a boot) =Racist Skinhead
Blue goblet = Radical Fundamentalist Catholic
Stop sign = Anti-Immigrant
Swastika = Neo-Nazi (duh)
Star = Black Separatist
“X” = Anti-Gay
Gray circle (actually a CD) = Racist Music
Yellow flame = Holocaust Denial
Grey triangle with eyes (a hood) = Ku Klux Klan (there is one on the map, but it is obscured by the racist skinheads)
Prohibited sign (red circle + slash) = “General Hate,” a designation that lumps together Voz de Aztlan, an anti-semitic group, with the Jewish Defense League. It also includes Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, whose eponymous leader was recently convicted of several counts of rape and sexual assault of minors.

While one might think this covers all of LA’s hatred-based needs, it appears we lack Neo-Confederate, White Nationalist, and Christian Identity groups. So much for diversity.
More importantly, this map allows me to figure out which hate group is the closest at hand, should I feel the need to join one and don’t want to commute. From the looks of it, I’d be joining either the Nation of Islam or the Jewish Defense League.
